3A – Your Entrepreneurship Story
The first time I exposed myself to entrepreneurship was my later years of elementary school. From a young age, I was a go-getter. Around 4th or 5th grade, my friend and I came together to start our own business. We went to Michaels’s craft store and purchased, with a loan from our parents, a diversity of colored feathers, hair barrettes, and a hot glue gun. Back at home, we created our product: Feather Hair Barrettes. After we had made our products, we made a list of prices for each different styled barrette. Placing everything into a portable cart, we walked around my neighborhood, from house to house, selling our product. After making a profit, we paid back my parents for the loan and donated our profits to the Humane Society! (Also I only think we made a profit because people felt bad for us...looking back now the barrette were not that stylish, and no adult would want to wear them.)
I enrolled in ENT 3003 to learn more about what it means to be an entrepreneur. In this class, I hope to learn how to think critically about the problems around me — taking problem-solving skills to think out of the box on a solution!

(it was a trend when I was younger I promise LOL!!)
Savannah,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your entrepreneurship story! Starting your own little company at a young age must've been super fun. I admire that you and your friend even donated your remaining profits to charity.
I also joined ENT3003 to learn more about entrepreneurship. Critical thinking about problems is something I would also like to learn from this course.
Great post!
Hi Savannah,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading about your business and your experience with entrepreneurship, especially at such a young age. Not only do I love the idea of the barrettes but also the fact that instead of pocketing the profits, you donated it to charity. I also hope that this class teaches me aspects of business that I don’t already know and can help me choose the right path for my career.
