27A – Reading Reflection No. 3

The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users, Guy Kawasaki

1. The general theme of this book is whether you're promoting a business, a product, or yourself, social media is near the top of what determines your success or failure.

2. This book enhanced my learning in ENT3003 by giving more information regarding the importance of social media as a business person. As a communication major hoping to go into the media part of the business, I enjoyed this book and believe it gave me important insight to further my knowledge.

3. An exercise for this class would be to create a social media platform plan. It is important to use social media to get your service/product out there, so how are you going to do it? Write a plan.

4. My biggest ‘aha’ moment when reading this book was when it was finally all put together. Building your foundation, assemble your digital assets, optimize your profile, attract more followers, and effectively integrate social media and blogging. All these steps lead to success within your business.

    Wonderful post , I believe in such a dedication when promoting a busniness, alot lot elon musk as an example. He had drive and I was also surprised to what he did to make his companies maintain weight on their feet. He has such a drive to keep him going, hard work to accomplish his goals, and never took vacations, I could see that as a distraction as well. He did not listen to people but himself, and even though it sounds selfish, he kept pushing for his ideals, and made it happen.

    Hey Savannah, Organization in many different aspects especially social media in business in a must in todays tech driven environment. Sounds like I should have read that book instead of mine. It was beyond dry. I just wish things weren't so focused on social media, as it seems to do more harm then good IMO. It would great to at least have more of a balance with technology.

    Great post, Savannah! I enjoyed reading how you interpreted the book you chose for this assignment. I agree that for many businesses social media plays a huge part of that organization's success or failure. Social media is imperative when it comes to marketing and advertising your product to your target audience.

    This book was very insightful as it discussed how to take advantage of the technology we have at our fingertips to ensure business success. I think it's interesting how we are alive in an era where the business world is ever-changing due to newer technologies and that we can utilize them to spread the word within seconds.

    I really enjoyed reading your blog post. I also read about Guy Kawasaki and his book “The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users” so it was cool to hear a different take on it. I agree that social media is on the top of society today and if promoting a business, that would be the best way to do it.

    Hi Savannah! I also decided to do my reading reflection on this book. Social media has such a huge impact on the success of businesses, especially for entrepreneurs. I think a social media platform plan would be a great idea for students to get a feel of how important social media is to the success of their business ideas and opportunities.

    Hello, great post! I did not read this book but it seems very interesting. People often talk about social media like it is an asset to their business and it can make or break them. I find this to be true. I believe that if one was to market what they do correctly and effectively, they would not need to put commercials on TV. More so, I feel as though communication is an essential part of business, if you cannot communicate what you are doing effectively, then you are loosing out on potential business. Overall, excellent post!

1. From the first assignment, the bu lists, we have learned so much. The bug list was an excellent assignment to start the course. I allowed me to get into the headspace as a business person. To recognize the flaws or ‘bugs’ faulty in the world and look to create something that could affect it positively. And that’s what we learned throughout this course. 26A – Celebrating Failure

A time this past semester that I failed was when I was doing laundry. And I know what your thinking, but your wrong, I know how to do my own laundry. Unfortunately, I just made the wrong decision on my part. I had a shirt that was relatively old and pink. I was doing a whitewash, and I thought, 'ya know I don't think it will run; its been in the wash too many times to do that.' But thirty minutes later I found out I was wrong and it bled all my other clothes in the wash with it. From this experience, I learned from it, and what I learned was to don't take a chance just to do another load. And from this story, I hope you all learn from my mistake. Failure is critical in life. From failure, you learn; you learn from your mistakes and more about yourself. I handle failure pretty well. 28A – Your Exit Strategy

1. I intend to grow my business to all that it is worth, and if an opportunity comes for me to sell, then, of course, I will take that opportunity, but my main goal would be to run this business to the end. My existing strategy will be when I retire and hopefully pass on the business through my family. 2. I choose this to be my exit strategy because I want to grow and run the business to my full potential and then pass it on through my family to keep it in the family name. 3. I think this decision relates to my human capital and personal goals. I personally would like to take the business that I grew from the ground up as far as I could and, in the end, look at my progress. From there, my family can do what they think there’s exit strategy is best for this. What I mean by this is if they decide to sell it or grow it till they retire also. It has influenced my growth intentions and how I plan to use my resources.
